2017 Birds and Bees Spring Soiree ~ Huge Success
Annual Fundraising Event Raises Over $63,000 for Maine Family Planning Programs
Thanks to an energetic Planning Committee, an awesome Host Committee, generous sponsors, big-hearted donors to our auctions and live raffle, and nearly 200 friends and supporters of Maine Family Planning’s mission, our annual signature fundraising event on May 6th was a huge success.
(L to R) George Hill, MFP President & CEO; Mary Amory, Member of MFP’s Board of Directors and Soiree Planning Committee; Liz Hays, Member of MFP’s Board of Directors and Chairperson of the Soiree Planning Committee; and Donald Verger, a Soiree Bronzed Wing Parrot Sponsor.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of MFP’s Parker and Linda Harris Award for Contributions to Reproductive Health to G. Paul Savidge, M.D.
G. Paul Savidge, M.D., 2017 recipient of MFP’s Parker and Linda Harris Award, surrounded by MFP staff who worked with him (L to R): Kate Gawler, Julia MacDonald, and Shannon Mackey.
Exciting Hamilton Raffle, Live Auction, and Live Raffle Raise Funds for MFP
Roz and Barry Kutzen of Poland, ME were the winners of MFP’s Broadway raffle –
prime tickets to the Tony-award winning Musical Hamilton, two nights at NYC’s
Michelangelo Hotel, and a $1,000 gift card!
Live auction items were a Hog Island Adventure, an overnight stay and dinner at
Portland’s Press Hotel and Union Restaurant, and four tickets to the upcoming
Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper concert in Bangor. In addition, the live raffle of a
portrait session with celebrated photographer Jack Montgomery, created quite a stir!
Once again, we extend our deepest appreciation to our Host Committee, our Sponsors,
our Planning Committee, Soirée volunteers, donors of auction items and experiences,
and everyone who attended our gala evening.
Together we raised over $63,000 in support of Maine Family Planning and its mission!
Each year Maine Family Planning participates in Giving Tuesday, a day when thousands of people around the world GIVE. This year Giving Tuesday was November 29, 2016 and with YOUR help we achieved our goal of 20 new Sustaining Partners – friends who committed to having a monthly gift charged to their credit card automatically.
Pledge A Picketer
Each year protestors and their ugly, untrue signs and posters appear at our Augusta health center for forty long days. Our friends and supporters who oppose the picketers - and support our mission, including the right to access abortion care – respond by supporting our Pledge-a-Picketer campaign.
This year everyone helped us to surpass our $10,000 goal. Thank you!
